Presently, GoalUp boasts 11,090 total users, with 6,408 enrolled in courses. This platform caters to the contemporary gig economy participant seeking financial enlightenment to bolster their journey toward economic empowerment. It furnishes essential insights on various topics including building savings, savings plan management, budget creation, credit management, investment portfolio development, and the crafting of robust entrepreneurial strategies. These courses empower Dashers to confront their financial hurdles, meet their needs, and seize greater control over their futures. Positioned among the premier educational online platforms, GoalUp is offered as a complimentary service.01 Executive Summary 3 GoalUp represents a significant augmentation to the Urban League’s mission by delivering meticulously curated, on-demand financial education resources accessible via mobile phones. Engineered to facilitate the Urban League’s outreach to new demographics such as gig workers, the platform leverages mobile content, engaging lessons, and short-form video formats. Given the ubiquitous nature of smartphones and the pivotal role of technology in daily life, we regard this tool as a substantial digital asset in expanding financial literacy, enhancing consumer awareness, and fostering improved money management practices—critical elements in narrowing the racial wealth gap. In 2023, the National Urban League launched the Virtual Financial Empowerment Center (VFEC), designed to provide comprehensive financial literacy education resources that cater to Urban League participants at various levels, enhancing learning and promoting positive behavior change. The curated resources aim to connect and inspire Urban League participants of all ages and socioeconomic backgrounds to take proactive financial steps towards a secure future. It was introduced to 11 Urban League Affiliates who tested the platform and provided feedback to enhance the user experience. Presently, VFEC has 393 total users who have completed 579 courses. 4 02 About the National Urban League02 About the National Urban League Established in 1910, the Urban League is the Nation’s oldest and largest community-based movement devoted to empowering African Americans to enter the economic and social mainstream. Today, the National Urban Leaue headquartered in New York City, spearheads the non-partisan efforts of its local affiliates.
